Firefighters and blue lights 2008/03/03 19:33 Karma: 0
I want to refer to an incident that happened the weekend of 01Mar08 reported Garage fire 400 blk 11th street. As its been stated time and time again no blue lights in the city well that didnt stop this individual speeding down the 300 blk of 11th with his blue light on and coming within inches of hitting a Reading Firefighter. Its people like that which give people that follow the guidelines and laws a bad name. Two years ago the call went out for the Friendlys fire in Spring Twp there he went again speeding in the city of reading with blue light on comming within inches of striking a slower car. But still has a blue light whats wrong with this picture?

The first question would probably be, did you report the incident to anyone? If so, then there is surely a breakdown somewhere along the lines. I think what we really need to do is outlaw them, done no more blue lights, I bet alot of people quit the fire service because of it, and I say good because those are the people that dont understand what they are there for.

Yes,My brother-in-law did to Car 6 but here is the screwy thing he lives on the next block and still has it on.
He told them, he is a member of 64 but he isnt anymore hands car 6 the chiefs card for blue light and it expired.
He is a wacker pure and simple I posted the same thing on Firehouse and one person said to me "You really like to watch him respond" 1. I was looking out my door when it happened. 2.I was that slower car that he cut off on the penn st bridge and i was just going to work.

The real issue is that a blue light is a courtesy light and may not be used to go through any traffic signal. But when they allow fire cops red/blue and sirens now your talking crazy. Blue lts. are not allowed in the city and if you were almost hit by one of them 1 get license / reg. # and call the RPD.

The first time yea it was in my car. But you have to figure when did Friendlys go up there is your time timeline and i even call 64-10 and told but there was nothing he could do cause he wasnt a member anymore but still had his gear plate and blue light. The second was this week end with him almost hitting the Reading FF
