Kevin,

Sounds like a well thought out plan. What size and type of generators are you going with ?

Thanks,

Congrats to Bechtelsville and Monocacy on the new orders.

Company 6...it seems your neighbors have the perfect fire companies, maybe they can give you hand training on your new piece and possibly others.

I'm from a fire co that was often (and still may be) looked upon as inferior. I'm not saying this is the case with Co 6, but if your neighbors are so great, why aren't they helping you achieve that same greatness?

PS- I'm not familiar with this area, these companies, etc.....but it appears like the little guy is getting bullied here and I wanted to stick up for them.

Well I would have to say that your company should not be picked on - there is no reason for it. Your company just got a new engine and I'm glad for them. So there's my opinion of co. 50.

Sounds really good. Its a busy truck, that I know. Curious why two generators. But sounds really good. Good luck. What is the price tag for your refurb? Company 7 is considering refurbishing or replacing rescue 7 in the next 5 years or so.

Thanks,
Jon

Company 6 is a joke. Read my comments above. Their size is unimportant, they have 5 or 6 trucks. But not enough people to drive them all even. No trained people. And no gear (at least its not on calls unless its really cold out). They have one of the nicest rescue-pumpers I have ever seen. And nobody to use it. They are in sad shape. And instead of trying to fix whats wrong, they are spending half a million dollars of what will probably end up to be taxpayers money on a truck that they will not be able to staff. They don't know or understand what truck company work is all about. They are buying one because they think that it will make them a truck company and now Amity won't be able to buy one. Its stupid. It makes no sense. Its politics. And its the worst case of bull shit I have ever seen in Berks County fire service. When somebody gets hurt or killed because of their antics, then it will be a "big" issue. For now, we'll just poke fun at them and hope they get the hint.

I don't know the situation down there, but I believe Company 6 just received a FEMA Grant on the current round of awards. That should be a step in the right direction.

Amity Township, one of the fastest growing townships in Berks County, should have an aerial device, whether it is Company 6 or 49. They should also have paid drivers during the daytime, which probably won't be far behind. Again, I don't know the situation, just my opinion.

I believe the Hydraulic generator will be 20KW not sure what brand, its not specified in the specs, and the diesel is 15KW (do not remmber, having brain fart)

ChiefEng7 we always had two generators, the diesel was the main generator, and the PTO generator was for back-up only, now I believe the hydraulic generator is going to be the main power source. price tag is around $175,000 a new one between 300,000 to 400,000 I think we chose right nothing wrong with the body.

There are many more things being done to it, re-wiring, cleaning underside of the body, degreasing, regreasing, Etc, etc, etc
