High-Rise/Mid-Rise Classes 2007/05/01 19:14 Karma: 4
I recently took two classes at BCFTC, High-Rise and Mid-Rise Firefighting, both with live fire evolutions. As far as I understood, they were both new to Berks, and despite that, they were very successful and alot of fun. I was happy to see that Berks is beginning to offer classes like this, rather than all those basic classes over and over again. I enjoyed doing both classes, though they were both alot of work!! I hope to see Berks offering more advanced firefighting classes for those of us who already have all of our basics. I don't know if anyone else that was in either class is on this site, but if you are, what do you think?

I was at the high-rise class and thought it was excellent. I learned new angles and methods that can be used in everyday firefighting, not just high-rises. I think others should broaden their horizons with these other classes because you never know when you may have to use the theories taught in a class like high-rise...

I only took Mid-rise FF, but I agree with both Sunshine and The114. I know in the Mid-rise FF we learned that we have a couple of buildings in the Boro that may not be classified as a Mid-rise or High-rise, but the stragies and tatics are needed in order to effect an efficient fire supression.

Berks has a nice facility and a nice burn building, it would be nice to continue and have more advanced firefighting classes, instead of having to go to Montco or Bucks for the classes.
