The JLMOC cutters by Hurst actually have 156,236LBS of cutting force and weigh 44LBS. Have used this tool too many times to count and love it. I know it means little in this discussion, but I just like to prove Brooksie wrong.

As stated before, Res-Q-Tec (http://www.resqtec.com/ makes some nice tools. I got to play with them at Harrisburg Expo but would love to have a chance to cut with them. They are putting out some amazing numbers for a 5,000PSI system.

G2 cutters: 21.2 LBS and 76,409LBS of cutting force
G4 cutters: 28.1 LBS and 109,669LBS of cutting force
G6 cutters: 38.9 LBS and 281,140LBS of cutting force

X4 spreaders: 46.1LBS and 226,980LBS of spreading force with 16,383LBS of pulling force that have a 27" max. spreading distance
X4S spreaders are the same specs just you get 32" of spreading distance

I have only one question for the res-q-tek lover. What is their NFPA 1936 rating? A?/B?/C?/D?/E? Cutting forces, spreading forces, etc is a very good marketing tool. For example, do you know where they(res-q-tek) are getting their spreading forces on the spreader arms? Well I'm glad you ask that. They get those highly inflated numbers from taking a force at the base of the spreader arms. To anyone that has a clue about extrication when was the last time that anyone used the base of the spreader arms to perform a rescue. You need to look at the NFPA ratings, as in the HSF, LSF, etc. It's the bull shi* marketing that some of these companies are doing. They get you in the door with these inflated numbers. Genesis and Holmatro are they only two companies that publish ALL thier NFPA ratings and numbers, Amkus has a couple but I will make fun of them another day. Perfect example is res-q-tek, I love their double speed video on their web site to make it look like their tools have speed, and they don't. The first time I saw it I thought it was a cartoon. Why won't they publish or make available their NFPA ratings of their tools? Also as a side note aren't the res-q-tek/zumro airbags the ones that have killed two firefighters already because of the interlock failing? I can go on and on but I'll stop for know. Who or what's next.
PS It was resqtek that I spanked two years ago at Pocono Internatioanl Raceway to get the rescue tool contract, of 7 tools evaluated they were the first tool tossed from testing. Too Slow, Too heavy, too weak, too bad. Genesis is the Tool of Pocono Raceway.

I have had a chance to play with the res-q-tec tools. I would agree that they seemed to be very quick to respond. Keep in mind this was on a short line off a gas power unit, not on a 100' reel to the electric unit on the rig.

I can't say that I was dissapointed in their performance, but I can't say that I was thrilled.

They did offer a neat little cutter (Q?) that semed handy for tight spaces, but otherwise, I will stick to my Amkus tools.

I do admit that I have never played with Holmatro, so I cannot say that they wouldn't impress me if given the chance. I would love to give tham and Genesis a shot.

The comment about how they get their power measurements is vey interesting and I will be sure to check this out when we make a future purchase.
